Debutter Property
Debutter property refers to property that is dedicated to a Hindu deity (Idol) for religious or charitable purposes. Under Hindu law, a deity is considered a juristic person capable of holding property.
The Dedication: It can be partial (only some income goes to the deity) or absolute (the deity owns the entire property).
The Shebait: Since an idol cannot manage property itself, a manager called a Shebait is appointed. He does not own the property but manages it for the deity's benefit.
Inalienability: Generally, Debutter property cannot be sold or transferred, except by the Shebait for "Legal Necessity" (e.g., repairing the temple).
