Piracy in Internet
Internet piracy (or digital piracy) refers to the unauthorized copying, distribution, or use of copyrighted material via the internet.
Forms of Piracy:
Software Piracy: Downloading "cracked" versions of applications.
Media Piracy: Illegal streaming or downloading of movies, music, and books.
Digital Bootlegging: Recording live performances and sharing them online.
The Legal Shield: Copyright laws (like the Indian Copyright Act or the DMCA in the US) protect creators. However, the borderless nature of the internet makes enforcement difficult.
Modern Challenges: With the rise of AI, piracy now includes "scraping" copyrighted data to train Large Language Models without the creator’s consent.
