Partition by Conversion
Under traditional Mitakshara law, the conversion of a coparcener to another religion (e.g., Islam or Christianity) results in an automatic and immediate partition of the Joint Hindu Family.
Status of the Convert: The moment a person converts, they cease to be a "Hindu" and thus cannot remain a member of a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).
The Share: The convert is entitled to receive their share of the joint family property as it stood on the date of conversion.
Effect on Others: While the convert is separated, the remaining Hindu members continue to stay joint unless they also decide to partition.
