Corporation (Body Corporate)

 A Corporation or Body Corporate is a legal entity that is separate from its members. It has perpetual succession and a common seal. Under the Act, it includes:

  • Companies incorporated under the Companies Act.

  • Companies incorporated outside India (Foreign Companies).

  • Statutory corporations created by special Acts of Parliament (e.g., LIC, RBI).

  • Note: It does not include a cooperative society or any other body corporate specified by the Central Government.
