Treatment of Offenders

The "treatment" of offenders refers to the modern penological shift from Retribution (revenge) to Rehabilitation (healing). Instead of just "warehousing" criminals in cells, the system uses:

  • Classification: Separating first-time offenders from habitual ones.

  • Vocational Training: Teaching skills like carpentry, computer coding, or tailoring to ensure post-release employment.

  • Psychological Counseling: Addressing the underlying trauma or mental health issues that led to the crime.

  • Individualized Treatment: Recognizing that a "one size fits all" punishment fails to address the unique circumstances of each offender.
