The State Air Laboratory is established to provide scientific data for the enforcement of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
Statutory Reference: Section 28 of the Air Act, 1981.
Establishment: The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette:
Establish a State Air Laboratory.
Specify one or more laboratories as State Air Laboratories to carry out the functions entrusted to them under the Act.
Functions: These labs analyze air samples to determine the level of pollutants and ensure industries are complying with emission standards set by the State Pollution Control Board.
