Environment Definition

Section 2(a) of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 defines Environment as

"Environment" includes:

  1. Water, air, and land; and

  2. The inter-relationship which exists among and between water, air, and land, and human beings, other living creatures, plants, micro-organisms, and property.

This definition recognizes that the environment is not just a collection of physical elements but a complex web of interactions.
